Administrative Director

Kate Ford - Administrative Director - co-founded Opera Theater of Connecticut in 1986 and has served as Administrative Director and has coordinated the costumes for its productions since its founding, including Opera Theater of Connecticut’s Overtures programs that tour presentations to schools, libraries, and community centers throughout Connecticut. She has been involved in fund-raising and administration for various companies in New York City including the New York Opera Repertory Theater, New York Lyric Opera, and Opera Ensemble of New York. She has organized and produced house concerts and benefits for community groups, schools and arts organizations—most recently, The Friends of Strauss Park Concert Series—and taught for many years with L.E.A.P. - Learning Through an Expanded Arts Program, in New York City. With the Town Players in New York City, she produced Little Johnny Jones and Fiddler on the Roof and their American musical retrospective, Broadway Goes to Town. She has also served as a judge for the Jenny Lind National Competition for Sopranos. She has produced and costumed all operas for Opera Theater of Connecticut at the Sanibel Music Festival, most recently Handel's Julius Caesar and Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and will do the same for Mozart's Cosi' fan tutte next spring.  Upcoming productions include Amahl and the Night Visitors, Hansel and Gretel and next season's Rigoletto..
